Premiere Beauty Show 2018 was held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Over 57,000 people attended with some of the best hairstylists in the world!
This year, I was on the Capture Crew for Matrix Hair as a photographer for the event. I was lucky enough to work with a few of the best hairstylists in the world including a few of my favorites Mustafa Avci, Chrystopher Benson, Philip Wolff, Danielle Keasling, Nick Stenson, Daniel Roldan, HairGod Zito and Dilek Onur-Taylor.

I shot the standard backstage and on stage photos but my absolute favorite was being able to take them upstairs to get some amazing fashion and beauty shots! Photography at a convention center is notoriously tricky – the lighting is some of the worst ANYWHERE but I’m like a moth – I’m drawn to the light. I hunted down this amazing spot with floor to ceiling windows and was able to shoot all natural light, my favorite! It was a stark change from the flash and low light that I was getting backstage but we made magic happen to really show off the best hairstyles.
It’s funny, I started with studio photography, opposite to most photographers. Mainly because I loved beauty photography so much but I find myself doing more and more event photography with a beauty twist and I am LOVING it! I still love my beauty dish but there’s nothing better than whimsical natural light photography.
I can’t wait to see everyone at Matrix at the Behind the Chair Award Show in San Antonio, Texas in August! Comment below if I will see you there!
The vivid hair color trends were on fire!!
It seriously was the best hair show and I can’t wait until the next show.
Stay tuned for photos from Day 2!
